Hyderabad: Technical difficulties are preventing the much-discussed "PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana," a national program for rooftop solar energy in homes. Through the registration online and mobile application, people are unable to register for the scheme's benefits.
The vendors who are responsible for installing these projects and supporting the government initiative have been facing difficulties for the past month. Many of them have expressed dissatisfaction with the length of time it takes to track applications and complete other tasks via the central portal. People are having trouble registering using the portal, even in Telangana. In the greater Hyderabad area alone, there are thought to be more than 5,000 pending applications.
"In Telangana, there are numerous problems with the PM Surya Ghar plan. The portal hasn't been operational for a month. Customers do not receive subsidies. The Rs. 18,000 per kilowatt proposal for apartments and societies is not being accepted on the portal. The portal has numerous flaws and unresolved issues, according to Ashok Kumar Goud, president of the Telangana Solar Energy Association.
Ultimately, the inability to register on the portal has caused delays in the project's completion. A number of prominent suppliers operating across several States have attributed the delays to website technical issues.
