Four hundred and eighty-seven artists and executives from around the globe have received invites to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that presents the Oscars, in 2024. Among the Indian names involved are legendary performer Shabana Azmi, producer Ritesh Sidhwani, filmmaker SS Rajamouli, his wife Rama Rajamouli, who designed the costumes for Naatu Naatu, choreographer Prem Rakshith, and others.
The Academy declared the new members on its website, adding that "an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion, and equity" guided the selection process. The announcement was made based on professional qualifications. Among the invitees this year are 19 winners and 71 nominations for the Oscar.
