Competition Commission of India Calls for Internship Applications
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) will close the internship registration today. The internship is conducted to familiarize students pursuing economics, law, management, and finance with the provisions of the Competition Act and its applications. Interested students will have to download the application form from the official website, cci.gov.in.
Internships provided by CCI are usually for one month, starting on the first working day of the month. However, candidates seeking internships for 2 to 3 months can also apply with a recommendation from a recognized college, university, or institution. The commission will organize a short induction programme on the provisions of the Competition Act, 2002, on the first day of the internship.
Upon completing the course, a stipend of Rs 15,000 per month will be given as honorarium.
The CCI internship application form 2024 should be downloaded from the official website. After completing the form in the prescribed format, it should be sent by post to “The Secretary, Competition Commission of India, Competition Commission of India, 10th Floor, Office Block, Tower.1, Ring Road (Opposite AIIMS), Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi-110023”. Applications can also be emailed at internships@cci.gov.in.
CCI Internship: Who is Eligible?
Before filling out the application, candidates should ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. Students pursuing the following courses will be considered for the internship programmes:
- Economics and Management: Students in the fourth and final year of a 5-year integrated degree in MA, MSc Economics, or MBA.
- Law: Second and third year of the LLB or fourth and final year of the five-year integrated course in law and LLM.
- Regulatory Governance: MA or MSc in Regulatory Governance will also be eligible.
- Professional Courses: Students in the final group of Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, or Company Secretary.
Scheme of CCI Internship
The applications will be reviewed, and each month, 15 interns will be shortlisted. The selected candidates will be assigned to various divisions of the Commission in different batches, where work will be allocated under the guidance of an assigned officer.
The interns will need to make presentations on their work at the end of the programme. If they fail to do so, they will not receive the certificate or stipend.
The programme may accept more interns if there are many applicants with good research topics on competition law.
“Internship is a full-time programme, so interns must observe the Commission's working hours. Any absence during working hours may extend the internship period without any honorarium. The internship may be discontinued at any time without payment of any honorarium if the intern's performance is unsatisfactory or if the intern is absent without the guide's authorization," it said.
