Swati Maliwal row: Arvind Kejriwal claims ‘old and sick’ parents to be ‘interrogated’ today

Arvind Kejriwal says that Swati Maliwal's 'old and ill' parents will be questioned today.

Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha member, claims that Arvind Kejriwal's personal aide, Bibhav Kumar, slapped and kicked her inside the Chief Minister's house.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Wednesday that the police will "interrogate" his "old and sick parents" today regarding the alleged assault of AAP MP Swati Maliwal.

"Tomorrow, Delhi Police will come to interrogate my old and sick parents," Arvind Kejriwal wrote on X.

Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha member, alleges that Arvind Kejriwal's assistant, Bibhav Kumar, slapped and kicked her inside the Chief Minister's house.

The Aam Aadmi Party supports Arvind Kejriwal's assistant, claiming he was framed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). AAP leader Atishi said the BJP forced Swati Maliwal to file the FIR using an old ACB case as leverage.

Bibhav Kumar has been arrested.

ANI reported that besides Arvind Kejriwal's parents, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, might also be questioned.

In her statement to the magistrate, Swati Maliwal said Kejriwal's wife and parents were present during the alleged assault.

"She came out after meeting them. That's why we are asking for two days to take their statement," Delhi Police sources told ANI.

Atishi criticized the Delhi Police and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the situation.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent Delhi Police to interrogate Arvind Kejriwal's elderly parents tomorrow. I want to ask PM Modi and the BJP if they think that Arvind Kejriwal's 85-year-old father, who cannot walk alone, and his mother, who just returned home after a long hospital stay, could have assaulted Swati Maliwal. Does the BJP really believe this?" she said.

Arvind Kejriwal Breaks Silence

Arvind Kejriwal spoke about the case on Wednesday, saying he wanted a fair investigation because two versions of the incident had emerged.

Swati Maliwal criticized Arvind Kejriwal for his initial response. She accused him of "unleashing the entire army of leaders and volunteers" against her and "assassinating my character."

"Irony died a thousand deaths. I don't buy this one bit," she added.

On Wednesday, Swati Maliwal claimed there was a conspiracy to "break me by leaking my personal photos."

AAP claimed Maliwal tried to meet Arvind Kejriwal without an appointment and caused a disturbance.
