Passengers on Spicejet said they were forced to spend an hour in the aircraft without AC.

Due to the current warmth, passengers on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga said that they were forced to wait inside the aircraft without air conditioning (AC) for more than an hour on Wednesday. Many passengers reported feeling sick as a result.

The incident was confirmed by passenger Rohan Kumar in an interview with news agency ANI. According to Kumar, the temperature within the aircraft was 40 degrees, and the air conditioning was turned on as soon as the aircraft took off.

"I was taking a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga (SG 476). After check-in, the air conditioning (AC) at the Delhi airport was left off for an hour. It was forty degrees inside the aircraft. The travelers were in pain. After takeoff, the air conditioner (AC) was turned on," Kumar stated.

Extreme heatwave conditions with high temperatures have been experienced in Delhi. According to the weather bureau, Wednesday was the warmest night Delhi has seen in 12 years, with a low temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius—more than eight degrees above the season's average.

Hospitals in Delhi are receiving an inflow of patients complaining of heat exhaustion and heat stroke due to the current heat wave. Physicians have advised patients who are immunocompromised or old to stay indoors.
