9 people are killed and 33 injured when a pilgrimage bus in J&K is hit by terrorists and plunges into a ravine.

In the districts of Rajouri and Poonch, militant strikes have claimed the lives of 38 military and 11 civilians since 2021.

9 people are killed and 33 injured when a pilgrimage bus in J&K is hit by terrorists and plunges into a ravine.

Terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, causing the vehicle to plunge into a gorge and nine pilgrims to die and thirty-three injured.

"We heard that militants were waiting in the wings and opened fire on the bus that had left Shivpuri and was traveling to Katra. The bus plunged down a ravine as a result of the driver losing control. The rescue operation is over; 33 injured persons have been taken to the hospital, and nine people have died. Although their names are still unknown, the persons aboard the bus are not locals. According to what we know so far, Mohita Sharma, the senior superintendent of police in Reasi, "they might be from Uttar Pradesh."

"Whenever there's an incident of militancy, we are on high alert," she responded when asked if there had been any reports of militant activity in the region. We had secured the Shivpuri shrine and were carrying out area domination operations in the surrounding districts as well.

Senior law enforcement and civil servants, including Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Pal Mahajan, were present at the location with the SSP. There, search operations were also being carried out by police and security personnel, according to officials.

Locals said that two masked militants opened fire on the bus, injuring several passengers as well as the driver. Officials stated that the post-mortem examination is the only way to verify reports from the community that three passengers perished from bullet wounds and the remaining passengers in the bus accident.

The victims were traveling to Katra town, which serves as a base camp for tourists visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in the Trikuta Hills, after visiting Shiv Khori, a Lord Shiva shrine close to Ransoo.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said he has discussed the situation with the Lieutenant Governor and the DGP for J&K. He declared, "The perpetrators of this heinous assault will not escape the wrath of the law."

"Even as PM Narendra Modi and his NDA Govt get sworn in and heads of several countries are in the country, a dastardly terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims has resulted in loss of life," stated Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in an online message. Tourists in Pahalgam were fired upon just three weeks ago, and there have been several unresolved terror events in Jammu & Kashmir. All of the hearty propaganda about the Modi (now NDA) government delivering peace and normalcy is false.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, stated that the event shows "the true picture of the worrying security situation in Jammu and Kashmir."

This is the district's second terror strike that specifically targets pilgrims, this time taking place in Reasi's Pouni neighborhood near the neighboring Rajouri district. Four Vaishno Devi pilgrims lost their lives and twenty-four others were hurt in May 2022 when a terrorist-planting device on a bus traveling from Katra to Jammu caught fire.
