New fronts emerge in UP bypolls as NDA and INDIA gear up for their next battle.
These seats include Milkipur in Ayodhya, where SP incumbent Awadhesh Prasad delivered a stunning loss to BJP in the Faizabad (Ayodhya) LS seat, and Akhilesh's Karhal, which he has resigned.
In Uttar Pradesh, ten Assembly seats will face by-elections in the coming months following the just ended Lok Sabha elections. Nine MLAs, mostly from the main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), won the elections in a number of Lok Sabha seats. In order to keep their Lok Sabha seats, several of them have already resigned from the Assembly, and the others will follow suit in the following days.
Due to Irfan Solanki, the SP MLA for Sishamau, losing his House membership following his recent seven-year prison term for arson, the seat will also become vacant.
