Mother Dairy Increases Milk Prices: Shocking ₹2 Hike in Delhi-NCR!
Mother Dairy increases milk prices by ₹2 per litre in Delhi-NCR, causing concern among consumers. This sudden price hike affects millions in the region who rely on Mother Dairy for their daily milk supply.
Mother Dairy and Amul Announce Milk Price Increase
Mother Dairy announced a ₹2 per litre hike in milk prices in Delhi-NCR and other markets starting June 3, 2024. This includes all variants of milk. The price increase follows Amul's announcement of a similar hike ahead of the Lok Sabha election results on June 4.
Mother Dairy stated it is increasing milk prices to compensate producers for higher production costs, which have been rising for over a year. In Delhi-NCR, the new prices are ₹68 per litre for full cream milk, ₹56 for toned milk, ₹50 for double-toned milk, ₹72 for buffalo milk, and ₹58 for cow milk. Token milk will be sold at ₹54 per litre.
The company noted that despite paying higher prices for milk procurement recently, consumer prices had remained unchanged. They also mentioned the unprecedented heat stress across the country, which is likely to affect milk production further.
Amul's Price Hike
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, also increased milk prices by ₹2 per litre from Monday. They cited the rise in the overall cost of operation and milk production. Amul's member unions have raised farmers' prices by about 6-8 per cent over the last year. This price adjustment aims to sustain fair prices for milk producers and encourage higher milk production.
