CNN has developed many guidelines ahead of Friday's pivotal presidential debate between US President Joe Biden and Republican contender Donald Trump. The network claims that all candidates and their campaigns have agreed to these guidelines. 'High-tech' microphones have been installed to help Biden, 81, and Trump, 78, during their discussion, according to a video that was posted on social media.
These microphones have green lights, so the applicant will know they are audible when they are lit up and vice versa. If a candidate's microphone is off, yet he still tries to talk or interrupt the opponent who is speaking, his voice won't be audible to the viewers watching them on the television.

CNN hosts Phil Mattingly and Victor Blackwell explained the microphone regulations, stating that both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, as well as their respective campaigns, have committed to following them by agreeing to participate in the presidential debate.

Before Friday's highly anticipated showdown, the network has established a number of guidelines and obtained approval from both Biden and Trump. Among them is the microphone. CNN said that it sent letters outlining the debate's rules and structure to each of the leaders' campaigns in May.
