Karnataka government to settle ₹80 lakh pending hotel bill from PM Modi's 2023 Mysuru visit.
The Radisson Blu hotel in Mysuru hosted PM Modi for two days during his visit for the 50th anniversary of the Tiger Project in April 2023.
Amid controversy over unpaid bills for PM Narendra Modi's stay in Mysuru during his visit last April, Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre said the state government would settle the dues. The Radisson Blu hotel in Mysuru hosted PM Modi for two days when he visited for the 50th anniversary of the Tiger Project in 2023, before the assembly elections.
Eshwar Khandre, speaking to reporters, stated, "It has been customary for the state government to settle bills for dignitaries like the Prime Minister and President during their visits to Karnataka. The previous state government refrained from handling the Prime Minister's accommodation due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct. We aim to resolve the issue by clearing all outstanding bills."
Earlier, a report in The Hindu mentioned that the Karnataka Forest Department was instructed to organize the inauguration of the 50th anniversary of the Project Tiger event from April 9 to 11, with a budget of ₹3 crore. The central government had pledged full assistance for the event's expenses. However, the event's costs surged to ₹6.33 crore due to time constraints, with the central government providing only ₹3 crore in aid.
The finance department of the Radisson Blu hotel sent several reminders regarding the unpaid bills of ₹80.6 lakh for PM Narendra Modi's stay, but they have not received any response. Subsequently, the hotel management warned of legal action if the bills are not settled before June 1, 2024.
