Plans for security were intensified in advance of the Amarnath Yatra.

Jammu/Srinagar: The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start in one week, and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced on Saturday that facilities have been upgraded and security measures have been enhanced to ensure the pilgrimage is conducted successfully.

Anand Jain, the Jammu Additional Director General of Police, has examined the security measures along the Jammu-Srinagar national route. He has emphasized the need for the utmost caution to prevent terrorists from interfering with the trip, officials said on Saturday.

Participating in the Amarnath Yatra's virtual "Pratham Puja" on Saturday morning at Srinagar's Raj Bhavan, Sinha declared, "Darshan for the pilgrims across the country will begin from June 29." The J-K government and the (Shri Amarnath) Shrine Board have prepared special plans for the pilgrims. The yatris' amenities have been improved during the past two years.

According to Sinha, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has improved and expanded several sections of the roads that lead to the cave shrine this year. "I believe the pilgrims will be able to make their journey more easily this time," he remarked at Raj Bhavan following the ceremony. According to the LG, the yatra has always been supported by members of all religions.

Last year, more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims made the journey and prayed at the naturally occurring ice Shivalingam inside the cave temple. According to a police spokeswoman, the ADGP, Jammu reviewed the security plans for the forthcoming yatra on the 270-kilometer Jammu-Srinagar national route in detail on Friday.
