September will mark the first child's arrival for Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh; the couple revealed her pregnancy in February, few months before she starred in a supporting part in the popular movie Kalki 2898 AD. Deepika portrays Sumathi, the mother of a future messiah figure in the dystopian epic. In a post-release interview, the film's director, Nag Ashwin, stated that Deepika actually shot two days of pick-ups while she was pregnant. Saswata Chatterjee, who plays the antagonistic military commander in the movie, disclosed that Ranveer stopped by the sets during those days.

Nag Ashwin said that Deepika was expecting during the last few days of production in an interview with ETimes. He laughed and stated, "There were two days when her Saswata gave News18 more information about the scene and Ranveer's visit to the set, saying, "Deepika is just ever-smiling." I pull her by the hair in a sequence in the movie. Because Deepika was pregnant at the time, it was filmed in Mumbai as part of the final leg of the filming. Ranveer arrived on set with an all-orange suit consisting of a tee, jeans, and shoes! He simply cannot stay still because of the contagious cheerful energy that he exudes. There was a lot of physical fighting in the scene, so I reassured Ranveer that a body double was available for parts that required more physical stamina. He was really courteous and modest. He answered, "I know, dada," with a smile.

Although Ranveer is one of the film's key protagonists, he would have been a regular presence on set during Deepika's pregnancy as she simultaneously filmed for the upcoming Singham Again. The newest film in director Rohit Shetty's cop universe, Singham Again, is slated for release in November, just a few months after Deepika and Ranveer's first child was born. In the meantime, Kalki is very close to earning Rs 800 crore at the box office following a phenomenal opening week for the film.
