UGC-NET Introduces Disaster Management as a New Subject
Delhi: The UGC-NET 2024 December test will now include a topic on disaster management, according to the University Grants Commission (UGC). June and December are the two times a year that the NTA holds the UGC-NET. At its 580th meeting on May 15, 2024, the Commission resolved to add Disaster Management as a new subject to the UGC-NET's current list of courses starting in December 2024, based on the expert committee's recommendations.
The following will be covered in the Disaster Management course syllabus:
Overview of Research Methodologies in Disaster Management
Governance, Policies, and Legal Framework
Disasters, Development, and Society
Disaster Management and Risk Reduction in Communities
Disasters and Health
Aspects of the Environment, Ecology, and Climate Change
Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing
Data and Interactions Technology as well as Additional Emerging Technologies
Response to and Management of Emergencies
The exam is held to determine a candidate's eligibility for an assistant professorship or to award a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The applicants' overall results in Papers I and II of the UGC-NET determine how well they fare. Candidates who merely meet the requirements for an assistant professorship are not eligible to be considered for a JRF. The policies and procedures of the relevant universities, colleges, or state governments, as it relates to the hiring of assistant professors, apply to candidates who pass the eligibility test for assistant professorships.
On June 18, UGC NET is planned to take place in an OMR-based test mode. The UGC NET test city slip 2024 was distributed earlier on June 7 to inform participants of the locations of their exam centers.
