Witness Reports "Saw The Plane Spinning": Horrific Crash in Brazil

New Delhi: In Sao Paulo, Brazil, an aircraft carrying 57 passengers and 4 crew members crashed, killing every person on board. Photos and videos taken at the scene reveal that the collision left burning debris in a residential area.
Social media users posted videos of the plane plummeting out of the sky and spinning downward. According to a statement from VoePass Airlines, the cause of the accident is still unknown. When the aircraft was last tracked by FlightRadar24, it was entering Sao Paulo at 4,100 feet.

Witnesses recounted the breathtaking moment when the ATR 72-500 crashed nearly vertically, spinning uncontrollably before crashing into a residential neighborhood.

150 meters from his home, truck driver Martins Barbosa, 49, was at work when he heard about the jet disaster.
He told AFP, "I thought it might have fallen on my house, with my son inside," and that he was dejected until he found out his family was alright.
Living close to the crash scene, Nathalie Cicari told CNN Brazil that the impact was "terrifying."
She claimed to have heard a "very loud noise very close by" while eating lunch. She described the sound as "much louder" than a drone.
"I watched the jet spin when I stepped outside onto the balcony. It didn't take me long to recognize that the movement was abnormal for a plane."
Although Cicari was unharmed, she was forced to leave her home because it was surrounded by black smoke from the crash.

Upon arriving at the site, witness Ricardo Rodrigues stated to local Band News, "I saw many bodies on the ground -- many of them."

The inquiry is still ongoing, and the cause of the crash is yet unknown. One of the oldest airlines in operation in Brazil, VoePass, has promised to work with the authorities to ascertain what caused the tragedy.

In general, the Airbus and Leonardo SpA-manufactured ATR 72 type has a strong safety record. Nonetheless, this event ranks among the deadliest plane crashes of the year.
The victims' remains are still being identified as part of the continuing recovery activities. The recovery of the black box will help the detectives in their investigation.
Before revising the number to 61, VoePass had said that there had been 62 passengers and staff on the aircraft.
