Hyderabad: A 53-year-old man fainted after incoherent laughter. The doctor explains the incident.
Long periods of intense laughter might cause someone to faint from a rare medical condition called laughter-induced syncope.
Everybody has at least one individual in their social or familial circles who laughs nonstop. After all, the best medicine a doctor can ever recommend is laughter. But as we all know, excess of anything is bad. An unusual instance that demonstrated this occurred when a man in Hyderabad ended up in the hospital as a result of collapsing from excessive laughter. On the X platform (previously Twitter), Dr. Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist from Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad, gave details about the occurrence and answered questions regarding it.
The incident happened while the 53-year-old guy, identified in the tweet as Mr. Shyam, was watching a comedy show with his family and drinking tea. Mr Shyam found it so funny that he burst into fits of laughter. He continued to laugh for a short while. Up until an unexpected event, everything was proceeding as planned. When Mr. Shyam held the teacup incorrectly, it fell out of his hand. Shortly after, he passed out to one side, falling onto the floor and over the chair.
After that, he was taken to the hospital. After testing him, the physicians discovered nothing unusual about him. He was then directed to see Dr. Sudhir Kumar. He did not give the man any prescription medications; instead, he advised that he have a heart assessment completed. The doctor also urged Mr. Shyam to avoid activities that are known to cause syncope, such as standing for extended periods of time, laughing too much, and vigorous physical exertion.
The entire incident was shared and posted by the Doctor on X. Many individuals have viewed the post, and although some are shocked by the incident, others are laughing.
