Spiritual Retreat: PM Narendra Modi to Meditate in Kanniyakumari. In this video, we delve into the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kanniyakumari, where he plans to meditate. We explore the significance of this spiritual journey and provide insights into Vivekananda Rock, a sacred site associated with Swami Vivekananda's enlightenment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to meditate in Kanniyakumari. The significance of Vivekananda Rock will be elucidated.
The Vivekananda Rock is a small islet situated approximately 500 meters from Kanniyakumari's Vavathurai beach.
After the campaigning for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections concludes on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Tamil Nadu to begin his two-day meditation at Kanniyakumari's Vivekananda Rock. He is scheduled to meditate from the evening of May 30 until June 1.
PM Modi's two-day meditation at Vivekananda Rock mirrors his two-day visit to Uttarakhand's Kedarnath following the conclusion of the 2019 general election campaign. During that time, he engaged in a 15-hour-long ekantvaas, or solitary meditation.
The counting of votes for the general elections is scheduled for June 4.
Significance of Kanniyakumari's Vivekananda Rock:
The Vivekananda Rock is a small islet located approximately 500 meters from Kanniyakumari's Vavathurai beach, marking the southern tip of mainland India. Accessible to the public via a 15-minute ferry ride.
In 1892, revered Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda swam from the shores of Kanniyakumari to the rocky islet for meditation. It is believed by his followers that Vivekananda meditated at the islet for three days and three nights, achieving enlightenment. This meditation followed four years of extensive travel across the country, culminating in the formulation of his philosophy at Kanniyakumari.
PM Narendra Modi has frequently expressed admiration for Swami Vivekananda, considering him a role model. Last year, the prime minister also delivered a speech commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Ramakrishna Mission, a philanthropic organization established by Swami Vivekananda.
Another factor influencing PM Modi's decision to conclude the BJP campaign in Tamil Nadu may be the party's significant focus on the southern region during this election cycle. In 2024 alone, the prime minister visited Tamil Nadu seven times, with one-third of his trips to southern states occurring over the past three years.
During his election campaign, PM Modi conveyed confidence in the BJP emerging as the largest party in the South following the Lok Sabha elections. In an exclusive interview with PTI earlier this month, he stated, "We have already witnessed an increase in mind-share; we anticipate a substantial rise in seat share and vote share for us in the region."
