Rahul Gandhi, while voting in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the national capital alongside his mother Sonia Gandhi, encouraged people to participate in large numbers and vote for their rights and the future of their families.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remarked on Saturday that in the first five phases of the Lok Sabha polls, people have rejected "falsehood, hate, and misinformation" and prioritized livelihood issues. He emphasized that voting will contribute to enhancing citizens' lives and safeguarding the constitution.
Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his mother Sonia Gandhi, who serves as the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, cast his vote in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the national capital. He urged citizens to turn out in large numbers and vote for their rights and the future of their families.
On X, Rahul Gandhi shared a post expressing his and his mother's contribution to the festival of democracy by casting their votes. He urged everyone to come out in large numbers and vote for their rights and the future of their families. Alongside the post, he shared a picture of himself and Sonia Gandhi displaying their inked fingers after casting their ballots.
Rahul Gandhi also highlighted the promises made in the Congress manifesto. He emphasized that in the first five phases of voting, people rejected lies, hatred, and misinformation, prioritizing issues affecting their lives. He stated that each vote in the sixth phase will initiate the process of filling 30 lakh vacant government posts for youth and guarantee the first job with an annual salary of Rs 1 lakh. Additionally, it will ensure Rs 8,500 per month for women from poor families and aim for debt-free farmers receiving fair MSP for their crops, along with workers earning daily wages of Rs 400.
After voting, the mother-son duo took a selfie outside the polling station. The sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls covers constituencies across six states and two Union Territories, with a total of 889 candidates in contention.
Earlier, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh expressed confidence in the prospects of the INDIA alliance in the polls. He predicted a clear and decisive mandate for the alliance on June 4, with full confidence in winning all seven seats in Delhi.
The sixth phase includes constituencies from Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Delhi, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The BJP campaign saw rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other party leaders, while Congress leaders also held rallies in the national capital. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, released on interim bail by the Supreme Court, campaigned for AAP and Congress candidates.
The Lok Sabha elections will conclude on June 1 after the seventh phase, with results announced on June 4.
