Gandhis Will Visit Raebareli Today To Express Thanks To Voters After Winning Two Important UP Seats

Lucknow: On Tuesday, Congress lawmaker Rahul Gandhi will speak at a "Aabhaar Sabha," or thanksgiving gathering, for party members in Raebareli and Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.
Priyanka Gandhi, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, Sonia Gandhi, and Amethi MP K.L. Sharma will also speak at the gathering.

The Congress will hold its first gathering of its kind in the state on Tuesday after the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha election were announced.

In an effort to thank voters for their support of the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance candidates in the recently concluded Parliamentary polls, the party has decided to organize public thanksgiving gatherings and thanksgiving yatras in each of the 80 Lok Sabha seats between June 11 and June 15.

In Uttar Pradesh, the INDIA alliance secured 43 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats, with the Congress securing six and the Samajwadi Party securing 37 seats.

By a margin of 3,90,030 votes, Rahul Gandhi defeated BJP candidate and minister from Uttar Pradesh, Dinesh Pratap Singh, to win the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat.

Union Minister Smriti Irani lost the Amethi poll to K.L. Sharma, who received 1,67,196 votes.

Considered a stronghold of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Amethi lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to Rahul Gandhi by a margin of over 55,000 votes.
