"Exploring Time and Space: Artists Respond in 'Liminal Gaps' Exhibition"

The group show "Liminal Gaps" at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) features four multidisciplinary artists who explore themes of culture and identity through the lens of time. The exhibition includes works by Ayesha Singh, Raqs Media Collective, Asim Waqif, and Afrah Shafiq, curated by Mafalda Millies Kahane and Roya Sachs.
Ayesha Singh's "Hybrid Drawings" greets visitors on the first floor with playful three-dimensional drawings that reimagine the country's skyline, collapsing architectural norms to interpret liminality in relation to the alteration of history.
The Raqs Media Collective's works on the second floor, such as "Escapement" and "Night & Day, Day and Night," explore time through clocks and Devanagari script, challenging perceptions of reality and digital existence.
On the third floor, Asim Waqif's site-specific bamboo structure titled "Chaal" invites viewers to contemplate ideas of ecology and sustainability, while Afrah Shafiq's "Sultana's Reality" on the fourth floor delves into women's writings and history, offering insights into the inner lives of educated women in pre-Independence India.
"Liminal Gaps" celebrates Indian culture's past and envisions its future through the diverse perspectives of these artists, creating a rich tapestry of experiences and reflections on time and identity.
