Amaravati: On Monday, Andhra Pradesh's Minister for Water Resources, Nimmala Ramanaidu, traveled to the Tungabhadra dam in Karnataka to assess the circumstances surrounding the erosion of a crest gate.

He evaluated the repair efforts made at the Hospet dam in the Karnataka district of Vijayanagara.

The minister gave a speech to professionals in engineering and gate installation.

The Special Chief Secretary and the Chief Engineer accompanied the minister.

A group of Andhra Pradesh specialists visited the dam engineers earlier and talked about the temporary measures put in place at the location where the gate washed away as well as the work being done to erect a replacement gate.

On the evening of August 10, the 19th gate of the Tungabhadra Dam washed away.

The tragedy happened when the reservoir's flood level was dropping and the crest gates were being closed.

In order to relieve pressure on the damaged gate, all 33 of the crest gates had to be opened after the incident.

In the combined Kurnool District, the Andhra Pradesh government issued a floor alert for places that are low lying.

As soon as possible, the dam authorities sent out a warning, advising people not to go downstream in the river.

According to Minister Ramanaidu, the involved districts' collectors have been asked to notify the populace. He said that notice was given to residents in Kowthalam, Kosigi, Mantralayam, and Nandavaram mandal.

Additionally, authorities at the Pulichintala, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Srisailam projects were told to exercise caution.
