Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat excel in the Archery Ranking at the Paris Olympics
The women's and men's teams qualified for the quarterfinals straight out of the top four.
The archers' chances of competing in the remaining Games are mostly determined by how well they do in the ranking round. And the Indians produced some strong performances on Thursday at Esplanade des Invalides to advance straight to the quarterfinals of the men's and women's teams.
Leading the way was Dhiraj Bommadevara, who is currently maybe the best archer in the nation. After a sluggish start, he recovered to shoot an incredible 681 and place fourth in the men's individual ranking list. His outstanding performance enabled the Indian men's team—possibly the greatest contender for a medal in archery—to secure the third seed and avoid playing Korea, a formidable team, until the championship round.
