"We Expect Canada To Take Action Against Anti-India Elements" : Center
When questioned about reports that Canada has charged two persons for threatening to kill Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on social media, spokeswoman for the External Affairs Ministry Randhir Jaiswal made the following remarks. However, no such action has been taken against those threatening Indian politicians and diplomats.
New Delhi: On Thursday, India requested that Canada take action against groups that are hostile to India and are based there.
When questioned about reports that Canada has charged two persons for threatening to kill Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on social media, spokeswoman for the External Affairs Ministry Randhir Jaiswal made the following remarks. However, no such action has been taken against those threatening Indian politicians and diplomats.
"These reports are known to us. A democracy only exposes its own double standard when it uses separate standards to evaluate or apply the rule of law and freedom of speech, according to Mr. Jaiswal.
"We expect Canada to take action against anti-India elements who have repeatedly threatened Indian leaders, institutions, airlines and diplomats by violence," he stated.
"We hope to see robust action at the same level of action on threats against us," he added.
