Watched a lot of snooker videos: Ding Liren on how he began playing "decent chess" during his day off.
Getting past Nakamura was more about boosting Ding's confidence than it was about helping him climb the rankings because his form looked to have abandoned him.
His smile said everything. Ding Liren's decisive victory over World No. 2 Hikaru Nakamura in Armageddon left him looking like the winner of the Norway Chess event, especially as he and his mother left the playing area. However, Ding sits last in the six-player rankings going into Friday's championship round of the renowned competition, having only six points from nine games. This year's edition marks his second triumph over Nakamura using Armageddon, the shorter and faster time control in which the player with white seeks victory while the player with black simply needs a draw to win. He has yet to win a battle in the traditional format.
