Was Joe Alwyn's latest magazine cover inspired by Taylor Swift's "London Boy"?
The latest headline in Time magazine has an homage to Taylor Swift's 'London Boy' album by Joe Alwyn.
The Sunday Times Style created a commotion online on Friday, June 14, when it posted the cover of its upcoming issue to Instagram. Joe Alwyn, 33, is depicted in close-up on the cover wearing a sweater with a blue collar. The title reads, "London Boy: What Joe Alwyn Did Next."
Readers speculated in the comment section about whether the Kinds of Kindness actor was aware of the headline's apparent reference to Taylor Swift's song "London Boy" from her 2019 album "Lover." This headline quickly aroused curiosity. During the height of their romance, two years after Swift, 34, and Alwyn were first connected, this record was released.
With lines like "But somethin' happened, I heard him laughin' / I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent," Swift enumerates the qualities she adores in a London boy.
But as keen-eyed fans dug into Swift's most recent album, "The Tortured Poets Department," they surmised that the song "So Long London" was a reference to Alwyn. These suspicions were reinforced by the title and lyrics, which reference living in London.
