Similar to Vat Savitri Vrat, Vat Purnima Vrat is celebrated with immense significance as one of the most auspicious days in the calendar. According to the Purnima calendar, Vat Purnima coincides with Jyeshtha Amavasya, which also marks Shani Jayanti. However, according to the Amanta calendar, Vat Purnima is observed on Jyeshtha Purnima. As per Drik Panchang, this auspicious day will be celebrated on June 21 this year.

Vat Purnima 2024: Auspicious Timing

According to Drik Panchang, the Purnima tithi for Vat Purnima 2024 will begin at 7:31 AM on June 21 and end at 6:37 AM on June 22.

Vat Purnima 2024: Rituals

On Vat Purnima, married women observe a day-long fast. In the evening, they perform worship rituals for Goddess Savitri and Satyawan under a banyan tree. It is customary for devotees to wear new clothes, apply vermilion (sindoor) on their forehead, and place a banyan leaf on their head as part of the rituals. Unmarried women also have the option to observe Vat Purnima Vrat to seek blessings for finding a suitable husband. During their prayers to the Goddess, unmarried women traditionally wear yellow attire.

During Vat Purnima, married women observe a three-day fast, starting two days prior to the festival. The banyan tree, known as Vat, is deeply significant during Vat Purnima. It is believed to symbolize the three major deities of Hinduism: Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva.
