Explain The Steps Took Following The Fall Of The Morbi Bridge:

Ahmedabad: In response to the Special Investigation Team's findings of negligence following the October 2022 bridge collapse that claimed the lives of 135 people, the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday ordered the state government to provide a report on the measures taken against the Morbi municipality's office bearers.
Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice Pranav Trivedi's division bench pointed out that the government has not yet filed an Action Taken Report (ATR) following the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) revelation of infractions committed by Morbi Nagarpalika office-bearers, including the group's then-chief officer.

A man who lost two family members in the collapse of the bridge has petitioned the high court to get guidelines for the restoration and reconstruction of the historic British-era building as well as instructions for customized compensation. Chief Justice Agarwal pointed out during a suo motu PIL hearing that the state government had not yet filed an ATR in response to the SIT's findings regarding the misconduct of Morbi Nagarpalika office-bearers, including the organization's former chief officer. On October 9, 2023, the final report of the SIT was turned in.

Chief Justice Agarwal stated that because the SIT revealed the government's inaction, an ATR should be filed against those who have committed errors.
Advocate General Kamal Trivedi told the court that the ATR would be produced shortly when asked about the steps taken in response to the SIT report. The tribunal
had previously directed the government to submit this report, especially highlighting the lapses identified by the SIT.

The Oreva Group's compensation and rehabilitation plan, which includes a monthly payment of ₹ 12,000 to each surviving victim and the family of those who passed away, was also discussed by the court. The group also decided to pay for the schooling of children who had lost a parent or were orphans. The Oreva Group's trust was directed by the court to set up a system for carrying out these payments.
Chief Justice Agarwal stated that since the SIT found inaction on the part of the government, a report on the measures taken against guilty parties should be filed.
The court asked the trust, "What method have you worked out to make this payment?" before giving it instructions to devise a system.
On October 30, Morbi Town's suspension bridge across the Machchhu River, built during the British rule, fell. 2022, killing 135 persons, including several women and children, and injuring 56 others.
