"Terrifying Encounter: Arizona Teen's Close Call with Bear Attack!"
In the vast wilderness of Arizona, a brave teen's encounter with a bear led to a heart-pounding escape, leaving behind only nasty scratches as evidence of the harrowing ordeal.
Arizona Teen Escapes Bear Attack with Minor Injuries
Corky Siemaszko reported a fortunate incident where a teenager from Arizona narrowly escaped a black bear attack with only minor scratches. Carol Edington Hawkins, the teenager's mother, expressed relief, stating that the situation could have been much worse.
Hawkins recounted the event, explaining that her 15-year-old son, Brigham, was relaxing in one of their family cabins in Alpine when the bear entered through the open front door and scratched him on the face and arm. Despite the frightening encounter, Brigham managed to close the door and protect himself. His older brother, Parker, rushed to help upon hearing Brigham's screams and successfully closed off the bear's access.

The family promptly contacted emergency services and a neighbor for assistance. Shane, Brigham's father, bravely confronted the bear to reach his son's cabin safely. Thankfully, by the time wildlife officers arrived, the bear had left the vicinity.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department later confirmed that the bear, estimated to be around three years old, had been euthanized and would undergo testing for diseases. Brigham received medical treatment, including rabies shots, as a precautionary measure.
Despite the ordeal, Hawkins expressed gratitude that her son survived, emphasizing the importance of Parker's timely intervention. She speculated that the bear might have attacked out of hunger but admitted that its behavior was unusual.
This incident serves as a reminder of the rare but potentially dangerous encounters between humans and bears, with two reported attacks already this year.
