Settlement of cashless health claims: IRDAI requests that insurers implement systems by July 31.
Policyholders have found the claim settlement process to be a laborious process.
Beginning on August 1st, this year, insurance firms will be required to settle health insurance claims cashlessly, which will facilitate and expedite policyholders' hospital bill settling. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has mandated that the insurer implement the required policies and processes as soon as possible, and no later than July 31, 2024.
According to the regulation, insurers should set up physical Help Desks at hospitals specifically designed to handle and support cashless requests. It stated, "Insurers should also provide the policyholder pre-authorization through the digital mode."
