Opposition outcry over NEET row adjourns Rajya Sabha till midday.

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha's Friday sessions were postponed until noon due to a disturbance caused by opposition members who barged into the House Well and demanded a quick discussion of the purported irregularities in the NEET exam.

22 notices from members of the Opposition Benches asking to halt the day's scheduled business and seek a discussion on the NEET issue were not approved by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition, begged the Chairman to grant the request for a discussion.

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi was urged to start the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address by Dhankhar, who disagreed.

Several opposition members invaded the Well of the House and began shouting slogans as Trivedi began his statement. Additionally, they were calling for the Union Education Minister's resignation.

Standing in the Well, Dhankhar beckoned the opposition members to take their seats back. He cautioned that they might be identified.

However, the Opposition refused to give up, and as a result, the proceedings were postponed until midday.

About 24 lakh students took part in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, which was administered by the NTA on May 5.
