Mumbai Case of the BMW hit-and-run: 72 hours in. Mihir Shah is where? Untraceable family; CM Shinde is under increasing pressure
According to Mumbai Police, Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena politician Rajesh Shah, may be hiding with his mother and sister.
Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case: Three days after reportedly running over a two-wheeler in Mumbai's Worli early on Sunday while driving an allegedly drunken BMW luxury car, killing a 45-year-old woman and injuring her husband, Mihir Shah, the primary accused, is still at large.
The Mumbai Police has formed several task forces to find Mihir Shah and interrogated more than a dozen individuals, including his partner. They believe that Mihir Shah, the son of Rajesh Shah, the leader of the Shiv Sena (the Eknath Shinde faction), is hiding with his mother and sister. According to NDTV, every known cell phone that belonged to his family or close relatives has been turned off.
Rising pressure on the government of Eknath Shinde
Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), criticised Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday, claiming he had to quit "grandstanding" in order to deflect attention from the case.Â
"In order to deflect attention from the hit-and-run case, the illegal CM needs to stop the grandstanding. It is obvious that Mihir Rajesh Shah, the accused, has to be apprehended and prosecuted. Aaditya Thackeray said on X, "All the grandstanding about his concern and directives to the police is simply an eye wash."
"Is it not possible for them to apprehend the culprit in 48 hours with all the CCTV cameras and intelligence network in place? Will the home minister or the unlawful CM provide an explanation for their inability to track down and apprehend the accused? Is it because the Home Department failed? or the CTV? or it's just the political ties that are holding up the arrest," he continued.
On Sunday, the event happened in Worli. A couple on a bike was run over by a BMW, killing the woman and hurting her husband.
