TS Minister Seethakka disputes Smitha Sabharwal's remarks on disability quota

Hyderabad: Minister of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development D Anasuya (Seethakka) denounced senior bureaucrat Smitha Sabharwal's remarks regarding the UPSC exam's reservation for people with disabilities.

The fact that Sabharwal, a senior IAS officer, made comments about the physical fitness of people with disabilities was extremely offensive. The Minister stated that the officer needed to understand the distinction between working in an office setting and going on field trips.

"I hope Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had a briefing regarding her remarks. If not, I will speak with him directly about the matter, Seethakka stated.

Despite physical obstacles, people with disabilities succeeded in a variety of disciplines. She added that remarks made against people with disabilities are a reflection of the mental health of those who make them, and that people should respect their dedication and hard work, if not actively assist them in their endeavors.
