Make mine medium-rare: According to a research, men eat significantly more meat than women.

Psychologists have long known that men typically consume more meat than women, but a recent international study has shown that this is the case regardless of cultural background.

Make mine medium-rare: According to a research, men eat significantly more meat than women.

While on vacation in Chicago this week from Europe, Jelle den Burger and Nirusa Naguleswaran stopped by Dog House Grill for a bite to eat. She had grilled cheese and he had a typical Italian beef sandwich.

They both believe it was no coincidence that their dietary preferences corresponded with their genders. According to Naguleswaran, women are just more inclined to avoid meat and to be concerned about the impact of their diet on the environment and other people.

"I hope this doesn't come across as offensive to men," laughed Naguleswaran from the Netherlands. She claimed that although she used to enjoy eating meat, she decided to give it up because of the climate. We simply care about other people because it is in our nature.

With increased confidence, scientists can now state with certainty that preferences for meat consumption are related to gender. According to a report published this week in Nature Scientific Reports, the gap is almost universal throughout civilizations and is even more noticeable in more industrialized nations.

It was previously known by researchers that men ate more meat than women in several nations. They also knew that overall, meat consumption was higher in affluent nations. However, the most recent research indicates that men and women differ even more from one another in terms of meat consumption when they have the social and financial flexibility to choose their diets.
