Lenovo Readying a 'Lite' Version of Lenovo Legion Go Handheld Gaming Device: Report

Lenovo is reportedly preparing to launch a "Lite" version of its Lenovo Legion Go handheld gaming device, according to a recent report.

Lenovo released the Legion Go in September last year, powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors and running Windows 11. This handheld gaming PC, which features detachable controllers similar to the Nintendo Switch, joined a wave of portable gaming devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. Now, Lenovo is reportedly preparing to launch a "Lite" version of the Legion Go. This development follows Asus's announcement earlier this month of an updated ROG Ally handheld.

According to a report from Windows Central, citing sources familiar with Lenovo's plans, the company is indeed working on a Lenovo Legion Go "Lite." This Lite version of the handheld is expected to still run on the AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors but may feature some refinements compared to its predecessor.

Specific details about the changes and updates coming to the Lenovo Legion Go Lite are not yet available. However, the "Lite" designation suggests there may be some hardware compromises to lower the price of the handheld gaming device. The report speculates that the Legion Go Lite could have a smaller screen and might not include detachable controllers, similar to the Nintendo Switch Lite. As a result, the Legion Go Lite could be priced more affordably.

There are currently no official details available about the "Lite" version of the Lenovo Legion Go, and the company has not disclosed any specific launch timeline for this device.

Lenovo isn't the only manufacturer preparing an updated version of its handheld gaming PC. Asus has announced that it will launch the Asus ROG Ally X, a refreshed iteration of its handheld device, on June 2. The upcoming ROG Ally X is expected to feature a significantly larger battery, increased RAM capacity, and a new black color option.

A recent report stated that the Asus ROG Ally X will come equipped with a larger 80Whr battery and will be available with 24GB of LPDDR5 memory, compared to the 16GB of RAM found in its predecessor.

The Lenovo Legion Go made its debut at IFA Berlin in September last year, with a price tag of EUR 799 (approximately Rs. 70,000). It features an 8.8-inch QHD+ display capable of a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Under the hood, it is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 series of processors, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.
