JioCinema Premium Annual Plan Silently Launched in India at This Price
JioCinema has quietly introduced its Premium annual plan, following the recent launch of a monthly subscription offering by the Viacom18-owned streaming service. The new plan allows users to access streaming videos at up to 4K resolution without advertisements (except for sports and live events). Interestingly, the annual plan is priced lower than similar offerings from competitors and even the original premium plan that has now been discontinued. Additionally, there's an introductory offer that slashes the price of the annual subscription by 50 percent.
The streaming platform officially announced the availability of the new plan on Saturday. The JioCinema website now showcases the Premium Annual plan, which is priced at Rs. 599. As part of the introductory promotion, customers can enjoy a 50 percent discount, bringing the subscription fee down to Rs. 299. After the initial 12-month billing cycle, users will be charged the full amount.
As outlined on the company's website, the JioCinema Premium Annual plan offers the same perks as the monthly plan. This includes ad-free streaming of videos, including premium content from HBO, Paramount, Peacock, and Warner Bros., all at 4K resolution, on a single device. Users also have the option to download content for offline viewing on their device.
It's important to note that all three streaming plans will provide ad-free streaming, but advertisements will still be included during ongoing events such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament and other sports events.
At its current price of Rs. 299, the Premium Annual plan offers significantly better value compared to the Premium Monthly plan, which renews at Rs. 59. Moreover, the new Premium Annual plan is much more affordable than the previous annual subscription option priced at Rs. 999, which was discontinued last month.
Last month, JioCinema introduced a Premium Family subscription priced at Rs. 149, with an introductory offer that reduced the subscription price to Rs. 89 for the first month. There's no information yet on whether the company intends to launch an annual version of the Premium Family subscription plan.
Even at Rs. 59, JioCinema's monthly subscription remains more affordable than Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. Netflix offers a mobile-only plan starting at Rs. 149 per month. Both Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video charge a monthly subscription fee of Rs. 299, with their annual costs being Rs. 1,499 each.
