With elections nearing, the BJP government in Haryana ramps up welfare initiatives.
The state government has launched a plethora of initiatives in the last two weeks, ranging from promising to solve people's problems to offering free plots of land to every family below the poverty line and creating 50,000 employment in the next two months.
In a bid to win over supporters and regain momentum ahead of the Assembly elections in a few months, the BJP in Haryana has begun to court voters after its share of the vote in the Lok Sabha election was halved and its 58% vote share dropped to 46% in a stunning turnaround.
Under the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY), the BJP-led government of Nayab Singh Saini has already announced a number of initiatives, including the provision of 50,000 jobs within the next two months and free 100-sq-yard plots to all families living below the poverty line. Additionally, approval for unofficial residential colonies with sufficient infrastructure has been granted. Additionally, the government has acknowledged that Parivar Pehchan Patra, its primary portal-based ID program, has shortcomings.
