Officials claim that initiatives are underway to draw tourists' attention to the different locations outside of beaches, such as heritage sites and forest reserves.
Kolkata: Goa Tourism launched the "Goa Beyond Beaches" campaign to draw tourists to the State's other tourist spots besides beaches in an effort to highlight its rich history and ecology, an official stated.
Since there is a lot of traffic on the beaches, top Goa Tourism Department official Deepak Narvekar stated that attempts are being made to draw tourists' attention to the numerous other destinations in the State, such as heritage sites and forest reserves.
"This idea of Goa beyond beaches is becoming more and more popular, and many tourists are heading to the interiors of the State," he stated during a travel and tourism expo in Kolkata, where Goa Tourism has a booth.
According to Narvekar, the State government is pushing a program known as "homestay," which allows residents of picturesque, tranquil Goan villages with a rich cultural history to host visitors in their houses.
"Travelers can enjoy authentic Goan cuisine prepared in the homestays and learn about the customs and culture there," he stated. Canacona, Bicholim, Sattari, and other interior Goan destinations are becoming more and more popular with travelers. According to Narvekar, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation's deputy general manager for marketing.
He stated that the Goa government is contributing two lakh rupees in funding.
