The recommendations were made on Friday during a pre-Budget consultation meeting with senior advisors and Finance Ministry representatives, which was presided over by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to people in the know, the government was presented with a plethora of proposals by farmer associations and agriculture experts to address issues like persistent food inflation and low farmer income. These proposals ranged from reviving agricultural research to paying farmers' taxes on input materials.
