Aircraft with 19 crashes on takeoff in Kathmandu.
At least 19 passengers, including the crew, were on board the Saurya Airlines flight that was headed for Pokhara when it crashed at around 11 am, according to sources.
Kathmandu: On Wednesday morning, after takeoff at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a private aviation company's aircraft carrying nineteen passengers crashed.
According to sources, the Saurya Airlines aircraft headed for Pokhara had at least 19 persons on board, including aircrew, when the accident occurred at around 11 a.m.
Without providing more information, a security guard stationed at the airport informed PTI that the aircraft's pilot had been transferred to a hospital.
He also said that the fire that originated from the airplane had been extinguished. At the scene of the collision, rescue efforts are being conducted by police and firefighters. Information regarding the passengers' conditions was unknown.
