Gang steals turmeric truck in Nizamabad, posing as RTA.
A automobile that was following a truck carrying turmeric from the Nizamabad district headquarters stopped it at the Indalwai toll plaza. People wearing RTA officials' uniforms grabbed hold of the driver and gave him drugs.
Nizamabad: On Thursday midnight, a driver near the Indalwai toll plaza was drugged by a group posing as RTA authorities, who then stole a turmeric laden truck valued at Rs. 50 lakh.
A car that was following a truck carrying turmeric from the Nizamabad district headquarters stopped, and someone dressed as RTA officials grabbed hold of the driver and gave him drugs, according to reports. The truck was headed towards Guntur. After throwing the driver into some nearby woods, they drove the truck back to the town of Nizamabad.
The group reportedly made a small profit on Friday morning by selling a few bags of turmeric to vendors. They later allegedly drove the truck to Navipet Mandal's Jannepalli. The event was reported to the police by the locals. When the police arrived, the truck driver had already fled, so they were unable to track him down.
An investigation has been started by the police after they have opened a case.
