New Delhi: Amid widespread anti-government protests in Bangladesh, Air India canceled a morning flight to Dhaka from the nation's capital on Tuesday. Following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation and flight due to unprecedented mass protests over the job quota, the neighboring country is now in a state of chaos.
Two authorities announced on Tuesday that IndiGo and Vistara had canceled all of their flights to the capital of Bangladesh. Vistara offers three weekly flights from Delhi to Dhaka and daily flights from Mumbai.
Air India canceled its morning flight to Dhaka on Tuesday, according to an airline spokesperson. The company will decide later in the day whether to proceed with its evening trip to the capital of Bangladesh. The airline is scheduled to run two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka.
"We have immediately canceled the scheduled operation of our flights to and from Dhaka due to the developing situation in Bangladesh. A representative for Air India said in a statement on Monday, "We are closely observing the situation and providing assistance to our passengers who have confirmed reservations for travel to and from Dhaka with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation penalties.
