4 dead as rain devastates Pune; schools are closed, and the Army and Air Force are on alert
In the midst of the constant rain, Pune District Collector Suhas Diwase has ordered the closure of all city schools.
Amidst intense downpour and continuous nocturnal rain in Pune on Thursday, four people lost their lives in rain-related events. Pune had water intrusion in multiple residential areas, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department to issue a red alert for the city. Due to the city's excessive rain and flooding, District Collector Suhas Diwase has ordered that schools be closed.In order to notify the Indian Air Force and Army to flood relief efforts in Pune and other areas, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said he has spoken with officers. He said that Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister, is now camping in Mantralaya and liaising with law enforcement.
