Anar, a member of the ruling Awami League party, had recently secured his third consecutive term in the Jhenaidah border district. The 56-year-old MP was found dead in Kolkata, West Bengal, on Wednesday.

    • Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her condolences and deep sorrow over the lawmaker's death.

      During a press conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan alleged that the MP was killed in a premeditated murder in Kolkata.
