Assam's First AI Teacher, Iris, Enhances Learning Experience for Students
Dressed in a traditional 'Mekhela Chador' and jewelry, Assam's first artificially intelligent teacher, 'Iris', efficiently answered all questions from students at a private school. At Royal Global School, the humanoid listened to the query, "What is hemoglobin?" and provided a detailed response, according to a teacher at the school.
"Whether the questions were from their syllabus or about any topic, 'Iris' provided answers promptly with examples and references," stated a spokesperson for the Royal Global School. The students were curious and eagerly participated in various activities with the robot, she said.
The children also enjoyed the robot's ability to perform gestures like handshakes, making the learning process both enjoyable and interactive. 'Iris' features a voice-controlled assistant that helps it respond to student queries with detailed explanations.

"The children are very excited because the artificially intelligent teacher can answer their questions," the school teacher noted. The robot was developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project initiated by NITI Aayog.
'Iris' represents a significant advancement in integrating artificial intelligence into education, the school teacher said. The introduction of 'Iris' marks a major milestone in enhancing the learning experience and addressing the diverse learning styles of students, she added.
The private school looks forward to utilizing the robot's capabilities to personalize learning and make education more engaging for students in the northeast region, the spokesperson concluded.
