We’re Not VIP's…': BJP's Ravi Kishan Sets Example, Queues Up to Vote

"We're not VIPs..." BJP's Gorakhpur candidate Ravi Kishan queued up to cast his vote.

Ravi Kishan is running against SP's Kajal Nishad and BSP's Javed Ashraf in UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's stronghold of Gorakhpur.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha, Ravi Kishan, arrived at a polling booth in Gorakhpur on Saturday and joined the queue to cast his vote, emphasizing that politicians are "servants of the public, not VIPs".

"This is what our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taught us: that we are servants of the public, not VIPs. When PM Modi came into power, he abolished the VIP culture in India by removing the concept of red beacons. When your leader is so grounded, it's important to stay humble yourself. I no longer consider myself above others and prefer to remain humble. PM Modi has put an end to the VIP culture in India and transformed the politics of our nation. This is our culture, and we should adhere to it," news agency ANI quoted Kishan as saying.

"I have cast my vote for the development of India, the ideal state of Ram Rajya, and to make India a global leader," Kishan said after casting his vote.

Earlier, in a video message on X, Kishan urged the voters to participate in the "festival of democracy" by casting their votes.

"Friends, you are all aware that today voting is taking place in Gorakhpur as part of the seventh phase of Lok Sabha general elections. On this occasion, I humbly urge all of you, the voters who hold the power to shape the destiny of Gorakhpur, to exercise your right to vote in this significant festival of democracy by fulfilling your duty as informed citizens," Kishan wrote in a post on X.

"Each and every one of your votes is crucial and will determine the future of your Lok Sabha and the country. Therefore, I once again appeal to all of you to actively participate in this celebration of democracy," he added.

Kishan is running against SP's Kajal Nishad and BSP's Javed Ashraf in the bastion of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Gorakhpur.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Kishan secured victory against Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Rambhual Nishad with a margin of 3,01,664 votes.
