Thousands protest in Manipur for state integrity amid conflict.

Imphal: On Friday, thousands of Manipur residents turned out for a rally called for the territorial and administrative integrity of the State, which was organized by a coalition of numerous Imphal-based civil society organizations.

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) organized the rally, which started at Thau Ground in the Imphal West district and was supposed to go four kilometers before finishing at Khuman Lampak Stadium.

Women, youths, volunteers from the community, and students from nearby Myanmar participated in the procession and sang anti-illegal immigration chants.

Phrases like "No separate administration," "Save the territorial integrity of Manipur," and "Save indigenous and rightful citizens of India" echoed through the air.

In the Northeastern State, the ethnic strife between the Kukis, who live in the hills, and the Meiteis, who live in the Imphal valley, has left thousands of people homeless and resulted in over 200 deaths.
