The groups for blind football in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be selected on Saturday (25 May) as teams get ready to compete at the 2024 IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix in Schiltigheim, France.
Brazil, Argentina, Morocco, France, China, Japan, Colombia, and Turkiye will be placed into two groups of four for the Paralympics during the opening ceremony of the World Grand Prix.
The draw will be broadcast live on the IBSA Blind Football website in both French and English: [Link to the website](https://blindfootball.sport/)
The official ball for Paris 2024 will also be unveiled.
Brazil is the current Paralympic champion, having won every edition since the sport’s debut at Athens 2004. However, since Brazil’s last win at Tokyo 2020, Argentina has posed a challenge to their dominance, clinching both the world and Americas titles.
Argentina has earned two silver and two bronze medals at the Paralympics. Meanwhile, Paris 2024 hosts France and Asian champions China have each secured one silver.
Morocco, the African title-holders, made history by becoming the first team from the region to reach the podium at Tokyo 2020, winning a bronze medal.
Turkiye secured their spot at Paris 2024 by reaching the final at the 2022 European Championships.
As part of the draw, IBSA President Ilgar Rahimov and Chair of the IBSA Blind Football Committee, Elias Mastoras, will deliver speeches focusing on the Paralympic Games before selecting the teams. This will be observed by representatives from Paris 2024.
“With less than 100 days to go until the Paralympics, things are heating up,” said Mastoras. “The draw marks one of the most exciting final steps after a long and fast-paced journey for teams. What better place to do it than right before seven of the eight qualified teams for Paris 2024 line up to play each other, setting the stage for what we know will be a fantastic summer in front of the Eiffel Tower.”
The World Grand Prix kicks off on May 26 with group matches preceding knockout stages and the final on June 1.
