The Ethical Quandary of Eating Out: Tipping or paying the service charge?

The decision of whether to tip or cover the service charge when dining out is one that many individuals encounter.
It's a common misconception that tipping and service charges are not required in Indian restaurants.
India's use of digital payments has further decreased tipping.
There are often two kinds of patrons in restaurants: A. those who notice the service charge, blame the establishment for it, and then pay it; and B. those who make every effort to have the service charge removed from their bill.

As it appears on your bill alongside the Goods and Services Tax, a service charge may appear to be a tax paid to the government, but in reality, it is a cost the restaurant charges for the services that they provide.

You see, unlike the service charge, tipping is more common and frequently based on our disposition, the staff's demeanor, and the vatavaran (ambiance) of the restaurant they have produced. In order to look good, you could tip more if it's your first date.
