Telangana to convert 25 ITIs into Advanced Tech Centers.
Hyderabad will have the most ATCs during the initial phase, with five centers opening for business.
Hyderabad: Because of logistical and physical difficulties, the State government has allegedly opted to upgrade 25 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the first phase of its plan to turn 65 ITIs into Advanced Technology Centers (ATCs).
Sources claimed that in later stages, the remaining ITIs would undergo transformation. Hyderabad will have the most ATCs in the first phase—five of its centers will be active.
According to sources, the Department of Employment calculated that in order to teach contemporary courses at the recently formed ATCs, each center would need an extra 12 to 15 Assistant Technical Officers.
The sources further stated that the government was seeking to hire workers under neighborhood services to teach new courses, as nearly half of the instructor positions in the government ITIs of the State were empty.
Through these ATCs, the State government hopes to train about one lakh people annually. In order to upgrade 65 ITIs in the State as ATCs, the government and Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) have signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). On June 18, at Mallepally ITI, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy officially placed the foundation stone for ATC.
