Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the central government for the arrest of former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, referring to him as a "tribal CM." He alleged that individuals from tribal or Dalit backgrounds are "automatically targeted" whenever such situations arise.

During a session titled 'Samvidhan Samman Sammelan' in Haryana's Panchkula, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the prolonged detention of Hemant Soren, stating that he remains in jail without much attention from the national media. He criticized the selective portrayal of corruption, noting that Mayawati is labeled as corrupt while Naveen Patnaik is not, and Lalu Yadav is condemned for corruption. Gandhi asserted that individuals from tribal or Dalit backgrounds are often unfairly targeted and framed in such situations.

Hemant Soren's Arrest and Bail Petition

Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in January in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. Despite multiple attempts to obtain interim bail, the courts have consistently denied his requests. The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, refused to entertain his bail plea, citing that Soren had omitted various pertinent facts related to the case in his petition.

Kejriwal's Arrest and Interim Bail

In March of this year, Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate regarding an alleged scam related to the Delhi excise policy. However, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail until June 1.

Rahul Gandhi Alleges Systemic Bias Against Lower Castes

Drawing a comparison between the arrests and bail of Kejriwal and Soren, the Congress leader further asserted that the "system is inherently biased against individuals from lower castes." He criticized various sectors such as the corporate world, media, bureaucracy, military, and education, stating that lower castes are significantly underrepresented. Gandhi questioned the notion of 'merit,' pointing out that despite claims of meritocracy, a vast majority of people from lower castes lack adequate representation.

The current Member of Parliament from Wayanad asserted that he has been "part of the system" since the day he was born, thus claiming a deep understanding of it.

"You cannot conceal the workings of the system from me. I am well aware of how it operates, whom it benefits, how it extends favors, whom it shields, and whom it targets. I possess this knowledge because I originate from within the system... When my grandmother served as the Prime Minister, my father held the same position. During Manmohan Singh's tenure as the PM, I frequently visited the PM's residence. Therefore, I have firsthand insight into how the system functions."
