New Delhi: Physicians and officials from a number of medical associations have declared rallies at different points throughout the nation in response to the rape and killing of a medical student at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College.
Beginning on August 16 and lasting till further notice, the Government Medical College in Amritsar, Punjab, and the Resident Doctors Association have declared the suspension of all non-essential and elective hospital services, including outpatient departments, operating rooms, and wards.

Additionally, they have said that today will see the termination of all elective and non-essential hospital services.
According to Kolkata Police, 19 persons have been taken into custody thus far in relation to the violence and destruction at the city's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Under the backdrop of women's protests across West Bengal at midnight on Thursday, miscreants vandalized the hospital's emergency ward, nursing station, pharmaceutical store, and portions of the outpatient department.
